We are just three weeks away! Three weeks from something I’ve spent decades working towards. From the painful nights I spent bedridden as a teenager, when the only thing that got me to dawn was wanting to know what happened next in a book. Now it’s almost here. I can’t wait for y’all to meet my monster.
The pre-release attention has been wonderful and overwhelmed. Ingram listed it as one of the three Best of the Best in SFF for the Spring, and it just got a starred review in The Library Journal and was picked as their SFF Debut of the Month for April. There is more good review news on the horizon. It seems every day on Instagram I’m getting tagged by a queer reader who needed my monster. I feel unfathomably lucky to have you.
So. Shall we have a party?
Because we’re having an official launch party on April 2nd, at 7 PM Eastern time at The Strand in NYC. That’s right: one of the most famous bookstores in the world, where my great grandmother used to collect Slavic literature to preserve our heritage, will see this guy. I’ll be signing copies, telling monster jokes, and I’ll be in conversation with award-winning author Meg Elison. Allegedly, there will even be cake.
If you can’t be there and want a signed copy, I’ve made a deal with the small indie bookseller Oblong Books. They will set aside a signed copy for you and ship it on release day. They ship internationally, too. I want everyone who wants a signed copy to get one.
If you prefer audiobooks? Well hey, I love ‘em too. Mine is narrated by the veteran great Carmen Rose. I specifically signed a deal that meant the audiobook wouldn’t be exclusive to any singular storefront, so it should be up for pre-order wherever you like. It’s already gone up on Audible, Libro.FM, Audiobooks.com, and Barnes & Noble. Libro.FM actually put it on their most-anticipated list.
I hope to see some of you at The Strand. It’s going to a magical night. But no matter where you live, thank you all for coming on this journey with me.
