If you can read this, then SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN is out in the U.S.! I woke up to see the dream was still real. My first book is out in the world. Happy publication day to my precious little monster. It can’t wait to meet you.
This is a book for everyone who’s ever rooted for the monster in a story. Rooted for them to be understood, or for that pitchfork-wielding mob to try talking to them, just once. For people who’ve felt alone, left out, and had doors closed in our faces. If people have made you feel like a monster, then this monster is here for you.

Yesterday I got the first great surprise of this month: Someone You Can Build A Nest In is an Amazon’s Editors’ Pick for the Best SciFi and Fantasy of April.
What do I feel reading that? I feel gratitude.
So this morning I’m writing to thank you all for coming on this journey with me. It’s taken many years and many furtive drafts to get this book into the world. So many nights I thought I was this one strange figure. I never expected how many people like me, and so many people who would need my stories. The support of readers has kept me coming back to the keyboard. Thank you for every comment, every like, and every person you’ve shared one of my stories with. Thank you for reading my stuff on some hard night, and thank you for making it to the next morning.
Tonight (April 2nd) I’ll be at The Strand in NYC, to celebrate my book launch. I’m bringing cake, signing books, having a big Q&A with Meg Elison. If you’re in town, please come join us!
But if you can’t make it, I’m working on my event calendar as we speak. There should be a few events this month and in the coming months across New York, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and possibly more states. I’ll share my schedule as soon as it’s finalized.
For today? I just want to thank you all again, and wish you the best of times with my monster.
HAPPY RELEASE DAY!!!!!
Happy book day!
